This is a free service funded and designed buy a HIV+ individual who designed these sites to help himself to meet other HIV+ friends (the founder lives in a small town in with no local AIDS organization or a car to travel to the "big city"). You can meet DaveyBoy (the founder of The HIV/AIDS Network) in the chat rooms, but he is usually busy working on the web sites, so don't tie him up too long please. These web sites are not sponsored or given any funding or grants, the are entirely funded by the founder's disability check, but we are now trying a few techniques to see if some money can be raised (advertising, hosting, etc) to help cover expenses (almost $200/month to run all POZ sites) without begging our members for donations. So far the Founder has not been able to afford to become an organization, but a business name has been established (The HIV/AIDS Network) so advertising and other business related actions can be done. Help us, please.

Why did DaveyBoy choose 13KM.com as the domain name? Well,
#1.) KM is a metric length (1 kilometer = 1,000 meters = 100,000 centimeters = 1,000,000 milimeters).
#2.) 13 is DaveyBoy's lucky number.
#3.) DaveyBoy feels as though he has come along way dealing with HIV (and kilometer is a large scale measurement), so put the too together and you have 13km.com!

11:16 PM 10/26/2008 - New HIVchat.exe and Setup.exe software to download that now works in Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems!

3:38 PM 3/21/2006 - Our pozIRC software chat application is the best way to chat in our chatrooms, it is the most stable way. Also, for those people using Windows XP and the JAVA web absed chat (not pozIRC) who are experiencing problems getting PMs (private messages) will find their problem solved by using pozIRC (download link).

9:13 AM 7/25/2004 - Just bought a new server (cost to me of $350, plus still need to buy a LCD monitor) for the chat server (P4 2800MHz, 1024MB DDR400, DVD burner, 60GB still needs LCD monitor), will be eventually moving the chat server over to the new server with its own high speed internet line. Right now there is one server (dual 1GHz 1U server) that run both a web server and chat server, although we do have a secondary web server (using my laptop for this, need to replace with a cheaper computer worth about $300) to help share the traffic as we get over 10,000 visitors a day to all our sites. We also pay for a hosting account that helps share internet traffic as we use this hosting mainly for pictures that show up on our POZ pages.

11:38 PM 6/29/2004 - Just a friendly reminder that you should always be suspicious of POZ people you are chatting with on "the net", read our tips page on http://www.pozitiveliving.com/tips.htm for hints and ideas how to protect yourself while meeting other HIV positive people online! We do not require medical records nor do we verify HIV+ status for our ads (invasion of privacy if we did). Therefor; it is possible for a person to be not what they seem. We suggest you take time to get to know chatters, see if stories stay the same, ask around to others about someone before getting to romantically involved. If a romance sparks over time and the other person will not give you a phone number, there may be an issue (or they scared that you are not what you claim). It is really best to rely on our chatroom for HIV support and coping with HIV depression, but many have met matches even gotten married. Just be careful please, I (DaveyBoy) have seen many hearts broken here but some say its better to have tested love than not had any love at all...
