- Use only the rooms that are relevant to your needs. If you are not HIV+,
then you belong in the HIV affected (#HIVaffected)or HIV negative (non-HIV positive) chat channel (#NotPOZ is the proper room for people
without HIV or AIDS to ask questions), all the other
rooms are for HIV support for HIV+ individuals (#GayPOZ, #BiPOZ, #HeteroPOZ, #LesbianPOZ, #TransPOZ, #POZParents, #POZWomen or the mixed room #HIV-AIDS) only.
#HIV-AIDS is the busiest
room, it is a mixed (heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, lesbian,
transgender) room of HIV positive or AIDS infected people only (no HIV
negative people allowed).
- No attempts of hacking or sending malicious viruses. All users should
use antivirus software at all times if connected to the internet, even to protect against
seemingly harmless web pages. Report hackers/spammers here.
- An "OP" is slang for a channel operator (they can ban
abusers and "OP" others, OPs have a @ in front of their nickname). New members will not be "opped" until they have
proven themselves as decent people and have come in to chat on a regular basis,
we like to wait at least 30 days to determine this. Members who become regulars
may be eligible for "auto ops" (automatic operator status once nickname
verified).
- No swearing, cussing or abusive language of any kind will be allowed.
Many swear words are blocked out in the chats, but not all words and slang are covered in
all variations.
- No suicide talk, suicidal thoughts can spread like wild fire amongst
other depressed HIV positive people.
Please call an AIDS hotline or a
suicide prevention hotline as they have
qualified people to deal with this! You may get support here when you feel
depressed, however telling people that you are going to kill yourself will
result in your local police being called (for your own good) with help from your
ISP (internet service provider).
- Using CAPITALS usually means you are yelling - please avoid doing so,
you may get kicked if you were asked to stop and ignored the request.
- If you are idling in the chat room and not chatting, you will
be removed (even banned if problem persists) after 30 minutes. If I
allowed everyone to just hang out and not chat, there would be about
500 people not saying anything, plus it is hard on my old chat server!
Many members complain about the people who idle, they feel as though they
are being spied upon.
- Disrespect to any person is not tolerated. No HIV bashing - No threats
- No pushing your values on others who have different ideas (free world).
- Please keep politics and religion out of general conversations as everyone has different opions that they may be sensitive to. We do not want to read arguments on what leader or God is better.
- No asking a question over and over, we see it the first time! We may
not want to answer, sometimes people are doing other things (multitasking), like checking emails or
chatting with others in private, just be patient. If no one can answer your question, try
the HIV/AIDS forums on www.HIVforum.com or see other
questions that already have been answered by experts HERE
(more HIV info: links, facts, symptoms).
Also, please do not flood the room with single words or phrases, this
will trigger an automatic temporary ban. Type normal 5-20 word sentences majority of the
time.
- Chat nicknames not suitable for a HIV/AIDS chat room will be expelled. Do not use them.
Any names that mock or abuse people will be banned. You must use the same
nickname for all your visits to the chatroom (it's common to make a change or 2
until you find the right nick that suits you in the beginning). People who
purposely try to make it look like each connection is a different person may get
banned permanently. You should register your nickname so no one else can pretend
to be you.
- If you are asked ("are you HIV+?") if you are HIV positive, you must answer the question
or be removed (possibly banned even). Avoiding this question only sparks
suspicions! The main chatroom is for HIV pozitive people only, "no ifs, ands
or buts about it"!
- All data in chat rooms is confidential. Please do not discuss other
member's situations unless they are in the chat discussing it themselves openly. No copying of
any typed text data from any of the chat rooms (no logging), no writing down emails for future use
(only use emails with permission), no reposting of data, so discussing other
members when they are not here in chat (possible gossip or may upset the other
person when they find out), etc...
- This is a HIV/AIDS chat, we do not discuss profane activities (keep sex
talk to private messages if the other person agrees, private chats are not seen
by DaveyBoy). Anyone trolling only for virtual sex
will be expelled (banned immediately).
- No telling DaveyBoy or channel operators (OPs) how to run things
(they are too busy)! We are here for HIV/AIDS support and information, not arguing! You are
more than welcome to set up your own support online group like we have here where you can
do things your way.
- Calling a channel operator any insulting names relating to their higher
position will result in a ban! These people are here to help DaveyBoy run
the chats, you should be calling DaveyBoy the names for founding these
humanitarian sites. Rules are to be enforced, in fact operators will
be demoted if they do not enforce the rules (they are just doing their job)! If
you believe that someone is being too bossy, then double check the rules, they
may have the right (if they are making up new rules, contact DaveyBoy). Just
remember that being "bossed around" is the better alternative to being banned, so the
operator is actually being nice by telling you the rules. OPs are not power
hungry, they just want the chat to maintain it's "norm" that DaveyBoy created.
DaveyBoy makes these rules (only DaveyBoy can change them), not the operators.
- No claims similar too: "I have the cure", "HIV cure in 2
weeks", "CURE for AIDS", "cure yourself of HIV" or know some
unknown magical remedies to help get rid of HIV or AIDS (THERE IS NO CURE
YET). No telling members that praying will cure them, no telling members to drink certain
fluids to cure them, etc. We report scams and false cures to National AIDS Health Fraud
Hotline at 1-888-332-1820 first, then we take your computer information (only DaveyBoy can
access chat server logs) and report you to more places found
HERE, so be advised not to bother! We will also
bill you (and the company distributing herbal remedies and health distributors) for
unsolicited advertising at $50 per advertisement per person (each member will
receive
$25 for unsolicited advertisement upon our payment) who was in the chat room.
When there is a CURE, I will let you all know!
- No spamming (unwanted advertising) is allowed. You can
post
HIV/AIDS related (no
dissident crap or alternative remedies) web pages to our search engine (chat
members use this too and we have a newer search engine on
www.HIVsearch.com too so
don't say we do not allow you to post links, just not allowed to in the chats as
the chat room is for chatting and meeting, not spamming). Spamming
or sending my users to other chats (which are not secured by me) may be an auto
permanent BAN!

- Be polite and
courteous - say Hi to others who enter the room - if a conversation seems in
place jump right in! If you diss another member, you may be removed for a while.
If you do not have anything nice to say, then shut up!
- If you are being messaged by someone and do not want to answer - use
the "Ignore User" feature in the chat room. Type /ignore Chatnick, example: /ignore DaveyBoy - If
someone is bothering you please report it to DaveyBoy or to the HOSTs (ones with upright
red ribbons in chatroom, they are called OPs) on duty in the room. To
message DaveyBoy (if you
see this nick name) type /msg DaveyBoy your message here, example: /msg daveyboy The new
guest is spamming me!
- No using gibberish or senseless chatter. Example:
kjfd7efljkh afk&^%gfasl or weird nonsense chatting
like: He
then went up the market to near that was close for it got caught in the blades of time
while shaving the back of his enraged silver buckle.
- Asking chatters for A/S/L (age/sex/location), photos, email addresses or stats is permitted however is
completely optional for chat members to respond. The only information allowed is age,
gender and state/province only. Do not give out specific location, bank accounts, credit
cards or other personal information. Chatters are under NO obligation to give out this
information. Do not ask other chatters for their first and last name, nor their street
address or other private details (bank accounts, credit cards, telephone
numbers, etc) - We will ban you! Post a personal ad to
www.HIVdate.com for free if you are
seeking love/romance! Be careful to whom you give your email address to even,
displaying it in the main chat area will expose it to everyone...
- No anti HIV/AIDS theories (ex:
AIDS dissidents). Aids dissidence is a
belief that HIV does not cause AIDS, "they" try to get us to quit our
medications and disbelieve our doctors and scientists.
- Main chatrooms (other than unmonitored and the German chatroom) are for English speaking only. There is enough chatter going on, mixing in other
languages just makes it hard to follow the conversations.
